Blurb

The Oddworld. Flying throughout space on the back of a chessboard, held aloft by four mystical piles of books. Home to wizards, demons and magic. Each one odder than the last.
In the Arcane University, centre of wizardry on the Oddworld, something terrible has happened. A book is missing. And we all know what that means. Something is afoot. And not the kind of something people want to be afoot. Something dark and sinister. After all why else would be a book be missing?

Review

I’ve read about 40% of this book.

I am sorry. This is a rare event for me to not finish a book. At first I was extremely excited to read this book. I’ve read the review on Goodreads and thought that it is perfect for me as a fan of Terry Pratchett. However, this book has too much of the same elements of Pratchett’s books, but in a way that I couldn’t connect or go on with the story.

I would say though that if you do not know Pratchett’s Discworld series, you might enjoy this book. As I mentioned, it has the same elements of the unique world and magic so you might find it a nice read.

You can also read this review at Goodreads and Amazon.

Other Stuff

The Opening Line: “Picture if you can the endless depths of space, throughout which all known galaxies lie and all known worlds, and some that are unknown, fly on their individual orbits, a myriad of planets teeming with life forms so diverse and wonderful it is hard to conceive just how many life forms there truly are throughout the universe.”

Final Thoughts: It’s just not my cup of tea.

When I read the blurb, I thought of Discworld as well. Sometimes similarity is a bad thing.
