Summary

In his international blockbusters The Da Vinci Code,Angels & Demons, and The Lost Symbol, Dan Brown masterfully fused history, art, codes, and symbols. In this riveting new thriller, Brown returns to his element and has crafted his highest-stakes novel to date.
In the heart of Italy, Harvard professor of symbology Robert Langdon is drawn into a harrowing world centered on one of history’s most enduring and mysterious literary masterpieces . . . Dante’s Inferno.
Against this backdrop, Langdon battles a chilling adversary and grapples with an ingenious riddle that pulls him into a landscape of classic art, secret passageways, and futuristic science. Drawing from Dante’s dark epic poem, Langdon races to find answers and decide whom to trust . . . before the world is irrevocably altered.

First off I would like to describe the situation in which I read this book. I was alone at home as Vishal was out for an event. I read this book sitting on the couch in my hall alone. I started reading this book around 10:00 in the night and finished it by 6:00 in the morning. And literally speaking, this book gave me goosebumps. I was scared to the core but the mystery and the adrenalin rush kept me glued to the book!

Frankly the creepy face on the cover of the book haunted me throughout the book and obviously discussion of  Dante’s Inferno and the stuff about hell and Satan scared me to death. But that’s the reason I am giving this book 5 starts because it was just spectacular.

I love reading it from the first page and it got impossible for me to leave the book even for a second. I am very glad I got a chance to read it in one go. I recommend it to people who really love fact fiction and can handle a different psychology altogether.

Other Stuff

Opening Line: “The memories materialized slowly… like bubbles surfacing from the darkness of a bottomless well”

Highlights: Knowledge about Dante and his works.

Low-lights: None.

Memorable Paragraph:

“..”consider this. It took the earth’s population thousand of years-from the early dawn of man all the way to the early 1800s-to reach one billion people. Then astoundingly, it took only about a hundred years to double the population to two billion in the 1920s. After that, it took a mere fifty years for the population to double again to four billion in the 1970s. As you can imagine, we’re well on track to reach eight billion very soon. Just today, the human race added another quarter-billion people to planet Earth. A quarter million. And this happens ever day-rain or shine. Currently every year er ‘re adding the equivalent of the entire country of Germany.”

Final Thoughts: Excellent! A must read!

Now I just put the summary that’s on the back cover of the book and keep my reviews short.
