This week’s word is:

Metanoia

Word: Metanoia

Part Of Speech: Noun

Pronunciation: meh-tah-Noy-ah

Meaning:

The journey of changing one’s mind, heart, self or way of life.

or

Change in one’s way of life resulting from penitence or spiritual conversion.

Synonyms: Conversion, Transformation, Change, Alteration and Rebirth.

Antonyms: Stagnation, Idleness and Sameness.

Word Origin:  Greek, from metanoein ‘change one’s mind’ 

It’s use in a sentence: “what he demanded of people was metanoia, repentance, a complete change of heart”

    Well I for one have never heard the word Metanoia before, interesting! Thank you Heena, I have a love of language so will put this word to good use as soon as I get a chance.

      Thanks and now that you mention it, even I think it will make a good name for a character!
      You have any ideas as to what should be that character’s personality? I guess Metanoia will have to have some really crazy and weird issues! lol! 😉

        Free spirited, wise but not in the usual way. A character that, like you say, clearly has some issues but sometimes they are not clear. Appears lost but really is not, and the great thing about it is the name could be for someone who is completely gender neutral which like the name goes quite well.
