Plot/Story:

The plot of the story (The Fifth House) continues about a month after the first book (The Only City Left) has ended. I can’t even begin to say how much I loved this book. I think giving it only 5 stars is just not enough. Though it’s the second book and usually this is where author fall, it wasn’t the case with this book. This book has just made the story even better and more exciting. I read this book twice, the first time I devoured it completely, but on the second reading I took notice of the details 🙂

I had high expectations from this book as I just finished reading the first only a few weeks ago and I am so happy it didn’t fall and this book was such a wonderful read. It was fast paced with lots of action scenes and twists and turns that can make you scream at the book, like I did lol.

This book was hard to review as I tried to keep it spoiler free as much as I can, and it was hard.

Characters:

Here there are two major POVs that change between them. I loved to read how it was from each character’s POV and I think it made the story even better. At first I wanted to kill Tyena with my bare hands through the pages, but she became such a strong character, that I started to like her a lot, even with all she had done. The main character Allin had grown so much in this book and gone through so much, but for me the focus was more on Tyena and The Fifth House.

Romance/Kills:

This book is not about romance and even though there is a slight hint on that throughout the book, the author didn’t wrote many details on the romance and that was perfect. Only as we got closer to the end we could see Allin and Tyena getting closer to each other.

There is a battle for survival so there are many kills and murders, but again, not with great detail which is more smooth and just to the point.
In this book we have new creatures and new rules of the game. Everything changes and all the twists and turns will surprise you in a strong way.

Writing:

Wow! I love Andy’s writing style so much.
The author has such a unique ability to make you immerse in the story so much and you are just living with the characters and fighting their fights alongside them.
Andy’s writing style is so light and so alluring. You cannot but get lost in the story.
As a writer, I learned so much from his books and learned even more about myself as a reader. Andy showed that the emotions and thoughts of human, creatures, and monsters can be so alike and it was a great part of the story, to see how people, cats and monsters can act in hard circumstances.
As soon as you start the adventure, you will not want it to be finished. I don’t know how many books there will be, but I hope for many, lol.

Beginning:

The start of this book was in mid action. Allin and his friend are stuck in the darkness of the city with monsters all around.
From the first page it was a very fast read and familiarity of Andy’s style was felt strong. The beginning started and ended in the same fast paced read and full of action and strong emotions.

Ending:

All I can say here is Omg…
The story here ended with a huge cliffhanger. As the story progressed to the end I knew there will a lot of untold details that will remain open and I was slowly getting used to that fact, but I never saw this coming, ever. When the story ended I turned the page and saw that the story had truly ended here, I was so surprised.

I want the third book!

The blurb for this book is short, without too many details and as some of you may know, I love that. It gives just enough amount of mystery to lure you in, but that’s about it.

Cover Art:

The cover art is beautiful, I love how simple it is and you can see just the city.
I love the picture a lot and if you read the first book (The Only City Left), it automatically reminds you of that city and how life is in the city.

Highlights: There are so many. I highlighted a lot of scenes in the book, lol.
I will say this though, the way Andy is able to surprise you with each twist and turn, and you are left with wanting more, a lot more.

Lowlight: None! Well… I want to read the third book 🙂

Final Thoughts: This was such a wonderful read. If you like Science Fiction, Fantasy, Paranormal and Dystopian books, this is by far the book for you and I assure you will fall in love with the story and the characters just as much as I did.
Again if I could give it 10 stars or more, I would!
